2016 Winner of Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Changming Duan has been awarded the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to psychotherapy science from the Section for the Promotion of Psychotherapy Science! Dr. Duan has been engaged in detailed counseling process research, specifically with Chinese populations. 2016 Student Award Winner This year, Hui Xu won the SPPS student award for his paper titled 'Reciprocal influence model of working alliance and therapeutic outcome over individual therapy course'. This paper had a large sample and was a high quality investigation of psychotherapy process and outcome. Our Roundtable Discussion, chaired by Sim Wonjin, at APA Denver, 'Promotion of Multicultural Psychotherapy Science', focused on discussions surrounding the current state of researching therapist multicultural competence and the many facets involved in psychotherapy cultural competencies. The roundtable was well attended by students and Drs. Margit Bernam, Changming Duan, Karen Tao, Stephanie Budge, Jesse Owen, Norah Chapman, Jesse Owen, Zac Imel, Terence Tracey, Jill Paquin, student award winner Hui Xi, and others.
